Fighting Cancer with Research Dollars: The Underwear Affair

When cancer hits a family it’s not just the patient that suffers. It’s the partners, the children, the parents, the friends, the caregivers… cancer hits big.

1242.2114013497.customSix years ago, my children lost their dad to prostate cancer. Two years later I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. It’s been a lot for them to deal with.

Kate put her sadness, anger and enthusiasm to work and started a team, The Pirates of the Nether Regions, to fight cancer with research dollars. In the last three years, the Pirates have raised $75,000 for the Underwear Affair. It’s a fun event where we run 10k or walk 5k in underwear-ish costumes and celebrate that the BC Cancer Foundation can support more research into these diseases that devastate families.

1242.1153205223.customWe’re raising research dollars again this year and we’ll be walking in our underwear just because it’s kind of crazy on July 5th. If you consider making a contribution, that would make us very happy. You can donate on my Underwear Affair page. Look for the green Donate button on the left of the page. Thank you!

Kate and her co-captain Erica produced a wonderful video that will make you laugh and maybe cry. Enjoy!
